Welcome Guest - African Moon, Rwenzori Mountains, Uganda
Each month, we open our doors to something new - a specialty guest coffee that brings fresh character, fresh flavour and a fresh perspective to your cup.
This month’s Welcome Guest brings us to the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda, a region known for producing coffees with depth, sweetness and unmistakable character.
This coffee is sourced through Agri Evolve, a profit-for-purpose organisation working closely with smallholder farmers across the Rwenzori region. Founded in 2010 by Johnny Rowland and James Wilkinson, Agri Evolve was built on a simple idea: that better infrastructure, fair pricing and long-term relationships could transform both coffee quality and livelihoods. At the time, many farmers in the region had limited access to processing facilities and were often forced to sell their coffee at unfair prices.
By working directly with communities - many farming small plots of just 1-3 acres - Agri Evolve has helped farmers take ownership of quality, improve processing methods and secure more stable incomes. Today, coffees like African Moon are not only recognised for their quality, but also play a vital role in supporting families across the region.
African Moon is a naturally processed lot, grown at high altitude for intensity and clarity. In the cup, it’s rich, juicy and beautifully expressive - with notes of dried fruits, cherries and dark chocolate. Expect a syrupy sweetness, a full body and a long, warming finish that lingers. Bold yet balanced, it’s a coffee that stands out while staying incredibly drinkable.
