Welcome Guest - Cyahinda, Rwanda

Each month, we open our doors to something new - a specialty guest coffee that brings fresh character, fresh flavour and a fresh perspective to your cup.

This month's Welcome Guest takes us to the rolling hills of Nyamasheke in Rwanda's Southern Province, where high altitudes, rich soils and meticulous farming come together to produce an elegant and expressive cup.

Produced by Cyahinda Coffee Washing Station, this lot is made exclusively from Red Bourbon varietals, grown between 1,800 and 2,000 masl. The region's cool climate allows the coffee cherries to ripen slowly, developing exceptional sweetness, clarity and complexity before being carefully hand-picked and fully washed.

In the cup, expect delicate layers of dried cranberries, floral notes and cane sugar, creating a beautifully balanced coffee that's bright, refined and effortlessly drinkable.

The farmers behind Cyahinda combine generations of coffee-growing knowledge with modern agronomic practices to produce exceptional specialty coffee. Family-run farms carefully manage every stage of production, from selective hand-picking of perfectly ripe cherries to meticulous post-harvest processing and regular cupping to refine quality throughout the harvest.

Sustainability is central to their approach. Coffee is grown beneath a diverse canopy of shade trees that help protect local biodiversity, while organic composting, natural soil management and erosion control ensure the land remains healthy for future generations. The result is a coffee that's as thoughtfully grown as it is enjoyable to drink.
